Possibly it is coincidence that has this article was published in 1988. It adequately demonstrates how our government knowingly allows us to destroy our precious resources of air and water. Of course democratically speaking they simply allow the majority opinion to rule their actions concerning their duty and role as leaders. This makes the lethal pollution of our air OUR doing. This article shows that government and the media KNEW what we the people were doing to our environment. We compulsively consume material resource in our lifelong quest for happiness, for love an unconscious need and prerequisite for happiness.

I actually met this young woman once in 1999. My condolences to her family. I know she is missed very much. By the people who introduced me and her day of death I know that she knew unconsciously about what is happening to her world. I believe she grew up next to highwat 101 in a small valley. The Eucalypytus trees next to 101 in that area are dying from MTBE.
Mortal fear of the unconscious is the only thing that would keep us from embracing ANY knowledge that could protect the lives of children. Knowledge that could help us to alter behaviors based on desires and fears is the only thing that will allow us to be happy in living with the "aggressive" pollution standards needed to protect our children, our futures.
